The Professor MCM Scholarship Fund raises money to fund medical students.

*Identifying early stage opportunities in various sectors whereby FMO can play a key role in closing the financing gap.*FMO's core sectors are Energy,Financial Institutions and Agribusiness. * My current focus is on Financial Institutions in need of funding.* Origination of new deals in SADC countries (including South Africa itself) • Ensure that these deals are appropriately structured to minimize any risk involved and maximize returns • Take responsibility for the portfolio, minimise application backlogs and turnaround time

• Origination of new property deals in all African countries that Standard Bank has a presence in, S.A. excluded• Ensuring deals are appropriately structured to minimize risk and maximize returns• Manage the portfolio for all existing Africa property loans the Bank has and work to progress critical deals, minimise application backlogs and fast track turnaround times• Ongoing monitoring of deterioration in credit quality within the portfolio using all available media/tools• Monitor deals post-execution to ensure there are no defaults• Liaise with the relevant front office personnel and regional offices• I have drafted credit papers for projects to the combined value of USD 175 million in countries such as Mozambique, Ghana and Nigeria,

• Sourcing potential property deals from Standard Bank relationship managers in various Standard Bank presence countries, excluding South Africa• Drafting Business Assessment Committee papers and also presenting these to the committee• Constructing Financial Models for potential projects• Ensuring that these deals were appropriately structured to minimize risk and maximize returns• Liaising with the Credit Department to ensure that all transaction risks were mitigated• Origination and presentation of credit papers• Assisting deals through legal process and ensuring that legal agreements were reflective of the structures agreed with clients• Management of the Business Assessment Committee process to ensure greater

• Rotated through different divisions of CIB – this allowed me to gain practical experience on the various businesses Business Sections Rotated In:• Trade Finance: - learnt how commodities are financed from extraction to warehousing (in the case of hard commodities) and from harvesting to selling (for soft commodities); and- how to secure the bank from its exposures in these transactions• Global Transactional Banking (GTB):, - Worked with the Analysis and Research Team, where I helped in identifying the framework in opening Customer Foreign Currency (CFC) - Helped identify ways to improve products within GTB
