- Help build photonics, packaging and software teams (from 1 engineer to more than 100)- Help recruit more than 20 engineers in diverse fields and bring people together for a common goal. - Spearhead open source software development (see Github/PsiQ) and code quality (see gdsfactory)- Mentor good software development practices (tests, documentation and QA) across different teams- Build, coordinate and maintain internally developed tools for efficient collaboration. - Deliver more than 20 PICs (component optimization, system layout/simulation/verification, data analysis)

- Build micro-ring based optical transceiver at 1310nm (design, layout and tape-out)- Design and layout Silicon-III-V hybrid tunable laser (UCSB process by Di Liang and Geza Kurczveil)- Automate S-parameter extraction for VCSEL circuit models

- Enable module operation from 0 to 70C- Suggest monitor photodiode design change for product robustness over temperature.- Test monitor photodiode wavelength, temperature and bias dependence and hybrid laser reliability- Improve wafer laser parameter extraction scripts and models (Rdiff, Slope efficiency, Ith)

Design, fabricate and test nonlinear integrated Ta2O5 waveguides
