About Mat Rodger
An enthusiastic product manager, dad, and heavy metal fan. More than 10 years in exciting startup environments have taught me more than I could ever have imagined about product, strategy, marketing, sales, finance, customer support, software development, hardware manufacturing, logistics, inventory control, HR, and people management - and all in times of plenty and times of extreme hardship. I like to speak my mind, speak it clearly, collaborate with smart people, and more than anything else, GET STUFF DONE. Then go for a beer afterwards.

Managing Director
Triggertrap creates hardware and software tools for photographers, enabling and inspiring them to create images in exciting and innovative ways. A small company based in the UK since 2011, we have shipped hundreds of thousands of products and have users in over 100 countries around the globe. My mission as Managing Director was two-fold: to maintain financial stability for the business and to help redouble our marketing and consumer visibility efforts in terms of our core product, Triggertrap Mobile. In addition, I continued to be in sole charge of the finance operations of Triggertrap Ltd, as well as direct management of the development, marketing, customer service, and operations teams. I monitored and analysed sales data on a monthly basis (reporting to the board in monthly board meetings), oversaw all hiring and HR issues and conducted regular development reviews with all staff. I maintained healthy relationships with all of our suppliers, logistics partners, distributors, resellers, investors and advisors.
Head Of Operations
As Head of Operations, my role was to ensure that the entire Triggertrap supply chain ran smoothly, efficiently and within the company’s means. I worked closely with our suppliers in China, negotiating costs and ensuring effective QC, as well as managing new stock orders from start to finish. I also dealt with our main distribution partner in Hong Kong on a daily basis, monitoring inventory and arranging the shipment of stock to our distributors around the world. I managed our Shopify e-commerce platform, maintaining stock levels across warehouses on three continents and working with our customer service team to chase down any logistics issues. I worked extremely closely with our distribution partners in the EU, USA, Africa and elsewhere to ensure that they were performing for the Triggertrap brand (and vice versa!). This included processing orders, issuing invoices, direct communications via regular newsletters, sales data gathering and analysis, and support via bespoke marketing materials. Later on in this role I took on a great deal of the finance and payroll side of the business. This involved reconciling transactions via Xero on a monthly basis, paying expenses, dealing directly with our accountants on monthly reports and quarterly tax returns, processing and running payroll on a monthly basis for a staff of 10 people, and ensuring all creditors to the company were paid correctly and on time.I also wrote numerous blog posts; responded to hundreds of customer service emails; organised trade show appearances in the UK, US, and Germany; booked all national and international travel for the entire company; wrote and copyedited text for our website; planned, sourced, packaged, and launched an entirely new accessory product; oversaw a major redesign and repackaging of our core product, helped plan and launch a Kickstarter campaign (including writing and directing the accompanying video), and orchestrated office moves in London and Bristol.
