Profile bio

About Mats Danielsson

I am a person raised in the automotive sector, this business environment has heavily influenced my business acumen and as well taught me many valuable lessons, not least the importance of quality, orderliness and cost control to further strengthen a company’s global competitiveness. These areas have then, in some way, become my guiding principles and personal trademark and my ambition is to put them high up on the company agenda. My core competences lie within automotive supply chain, manufacturing operations and quality management but positions within management teams on different corporate levels have increased my core skills in additional areas bringing new knowledge to my personal portfolio. I have spent most of my professional carrer in a highly international environment where I’ve been both part of but also chaired multi-cultural teams, from North America to Asia, and as well acted Managing Director in China. To build further upon these experiences, and also getting beyond the automotive world, I took on the challenge to graduate from an Executive MBA education (2014), a challenging but highly interesting experience from both a professional and personal point of view.

Listed skills include Automotive, Quality Management, Apqp, Kaizen, and 20 others.

Purchasing And Quality Manager, Bulten Group

Gothenburg, Sweden

After almost six years at Bulten Sweden, including two children and an MBA degree, I was drafted to the Group Headquarter and a position as Purchasing and Quality Manager, reporting to the Senior Vice President Purchasing and Quality. This position had a clear objective to coordinate purchasing and quality acitivities within the Group to find areas of improvements. This was done via targeted inititatives and projects but just as much effort was spent on developing common systems to harmonize operational procedures with the target to be more efficient. One objective was to professionalize the purchasing activities by leading a project to develop a Purchasing Portal for the Global Purchase team, a commercial tool to log saving activities as well as keeping track of supplier performance.Another project worth mentioning was the development of a Global Claim Handling system, an 8D portal according to Automotive standards, a system that is used at all Bulten sites world wide.

Dec 2013 - Aug 2015

Quality And Environmental Manager, Bulten Sweden

Gothenburg, Sweden

After almost four years within the Finnveden Group I left to join Bulten and the position as Quality Manager for Bulten Sweden. As Quality Manager at Bulten Sweden I was in charge of three areas, claim management, part sign off (PPAP) and a technical centre. One of the main objectives for the team was to react quickly on quality alerts, rapidly put containments activities in place to protect the customer and once in place, together with the causing party, conclude on a root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions whereever the problem occured, within Bulten production units or external suppliers.A second main objective for the team was to sign off new parts so that serial deliveries could be started, this was done using the automotive PPAP procedure. A properly conducted PPAP procedure is a requirement to prevent future quality concerns. The last main objective relates to the technical centre where dimensional and functional tests were performed in order to make sure that only conforming parts were shipped to our customers.

Purchasing Manager

Finnveden Metal Structures Ab

Gothenburg, Sweden, And Bielsko Biala, Poland

After the Purchasing Controller position, working with non-automotive purchasing for the Finnveden Group, I was drafted by one of the Business Areas within the Group as Purchasing Manager for the Die Casting Operations. I was responsible for the commodity strategy and tactical purchasing of direct production material for two die casting plants within the business unit and member of the Central Purchasing Team reporting to the Vice President of Purchasing.Main objective for the position was to secure continuous supply of input materials to the manufacturing sites - on time, with the right quality and with yearly cost improvements. Main tasks in this position were to identify potential suppliers, negotiate frame contracts and then successfully introduce the supplier to the sites using automotive project management tools. Once a supplier was launched and serial deliveries started main tasks consisted of performance follow up, supplier assessments and contract negotiations but also dealing with day-to-day issues to keep production lines running at all times.

Mar 2006 - Jan 2008

Purchasing Controller

Finnveden Ab

Gothenburg, Sweden

This position was part of the Finnveden Group Purchasing Council, with representatives from all Business Areas within the Group, with the task to find commercial opportunities in the area of 'non-automotive' parts and services. Primary position objective was to reduce the cost level within the spend scope of the position. This was strategically targeted by increasing the bargaining power towards the supply base by gathering the total spend of the whole Finnveden Group, negotiate better terms and conditions and in the end achieve a lower overall spend. One major project was to look in to the freight situation within the Group that, at the time, was very fragmented with several forwarders on the same flows with a highly diversified cost structure. This was targeted by analysing the goods flows within all Finnveden subsidiaries, find the best overall situation for the Group based on parameters such as cost, quality and service and then implement the strategy throughout the Group together with colleagues all over Europe.
