Resume Mats Wedin member of the IAAPA Hall of FameBorn 1951. Married to Kerstin, theatre producer and actress, since 1979. They live in a coastal community outside Gothenburg.Mats Wedin is a laureate of the Gothenburg Business School (1973). Mats held different positions at Volvo Car Corporation from 1974 - 1988 and has experience in the areas of logistics, production control, IT management and marketing. When leaving Volvo for the Amusement Industry in 1988 he was the head of International marketing at Volvo Car Corporation.Mats joined the Liseberg Group in 1988 as the president of the Amusement Park. Liseberg is the largest tourist attraction in Sweden, situated in Gothenburg. The group consists of an amusement park, a hotel, several campgrounds and one of the country's largest restaurant companies.In 1994, Mats took over as president and CEO of the group and grew Liseberg from 2,4 to 3,2 million visitors a year and doubled the turnover and tripled the EBITDA. Mats retired, at the age of 60, from his role as CEO in 2011 after 23 years in the company.Over the years Mats has served on the board of directors for ARE (Swedens largest ski resort), Swedish MTV (television production), Valentin & Byhr (ad-agency) and the Gothenburg Tourism Board. He has also served as chairman for Oscarsteatern in Stockholm and has for eight years been a board-member of Moment Group (one of Scandinavias largest theatre and show production companies.At the present he is a director of Astrid Lindgrens Värld, the Astrid Lindgren Company and Parks & Resorts Scandinavia ( group with five major parks in Sweden).During his tenure at Liseberg Mats has been deeply involved in several industry associations and has been the chairman of the Swedish Parks association, Europarks (EU lobby group) and IAAPA - the global association the theme parks and attractions. He served on the IAAPA board for over 17 years and `developed it's European branch and tradeshow EAS. After five years on the associations executive committee he served as the associations chairman in 2007.Between 1994 and 2010 Mats was the chairman of the board of governors for the prestigious industry recognition "the Applause Award" presented to the leading theme parks of the world.He has received the IAAPA meritorious service award and it's lifetime service award in 2014 with the following motivation:In 2020 Mats Wedin was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Amusement Industry - IAAPA.
