Mr. Ballinger is a Principal at Carlyle where he focuses on Asset Management in their Real Estate Credit Group. He previously served as Senior Vice President - Asset Management of iStar and Safehold from 2018-2022 and held several positions within the asset management team since joining iStar in 2003. Mr. Ballinger ran the Atlanta office and lead the firm’s asset management efforts for the $7 billion+ net lease and ground lease portfolios. His accomplishments include leasing more than 7.5 million square feet and disposing of over $6 billion in assets. He has an extensive background in all traditional property types (multi-family, industrial, office & retail) and nontraditional property types (entertainment and land) that includes asset managing REO, operating properties, loans and preferred equity positions. Prior to joining iStar, Mr. Ballinger served as a Financial Service Manager for Equity Residential where he oversaw the financial analysis, budgeting, training of property accounting & operating systems on a portfolio of over 20,000 multi-family units in the northeast. He received his BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia.
