Matt Barker started cutting up tracks and mixes from the age of six. He loved making his own music, creating synth patches and blending them together in unique and interesting ways. In his teens, he bought a sampler and started started experimenting with sequencers. DJing became a passion, so bought some turntables, learnt how to mix in key and got a residency. This was getting good....His first demo track, 'Earthquake in Eden', needed a suitable psuedonym, so he chose Epicentre. The rest is history.Initially focussing on original material, Matt developed his unique style of merging prog house, trance, breakbeat and accoustic elements, which has seen him produce tracks in a wide range of genres. Collaborations include remixing breakthrough Manchester group The Rainband, as well as working with likeminded DJs and producers such as Darius Korn, Andy Eggleton of Definite Grooves, Phil Urry of The Shine Boys, Steve 'Disco' Newsome of Shabobchik and Joel North of Miami's Radio Danz. The last few years have seen a renaissance in Epicentre productions. He has garnered interest from Asia and North America, moved into film-making and is an avid digital artist. Epicentre mixsets and podcasts have been broadcast on several online radio stations across the globe, and Matt's original VJ visuals have been supported by establsihed acts such as the global DJ and producer John Graham, aka Quivver. Epicentre is also one half of the group Seismic Waves with DJ Ali Rumba. Notible Epicentre remixes / bootlegs include Kings of Leon, Michael Jackson, Everything But The Girl, New Order, Imogen Heap, Quivver and Paul Oakenfold. Most recently, Matt has been working on an exciting collaboration with a well known and respected vocalist for her next single.2012 will also bring Epicentre's long-awaited debut album, with contributions from an array of talented artists who have helped the distinctive Epicentre sound evolve into what it is today.
