I am building a data-loving culture at APS by pushing leaders at all levels of our organization to access and center data in their decision-making processes. I build awareness and fluency through designing professional development sessions and processes, consulting on goal-setting and reflective conversations, and doing proactive outreach about our data tools. Technically, I rely on Tableau, SQL (Amazon Redshift and Microsoft SQL Server), Python, Stata on a daily basis to design clean, interactive, user-friendly data tools and build/maintain data pipelines using our internal and vendor-provided data.I have pulled ideas from many other disciplines to push my self and my teammates to grow: change management, user experience research, Scrum, and the Tableau community to generate new ideas for influence and culture building.

Excel High School was in its first year of a turnaround process, and we began implementing the Linked Learning model, which emphasizes project-based learning in contexts that students can find relevant. The Linked Learning approach integrates rigorous academics that meet college-ready standards with sequenced, high-quality career-technical education, work-based learning, and supports to help students stay on track. Excel is organized around a business technology theme, which includes emphases on computer science and entrepreneurial thinking. I created and implemented a relevant project-based learning unit in which my statistics students served as market researchers for local businesses and non-profits to design and pilot a survey, analyze the data, and present the results back to the local stakeholders. Additionally, I have been highly involved in planning and designing the logistics regarding the school's advisory structure and a Google Sheets-based system in which teachers schedule small groups of students for intervention blocks and receive auto-populating rosters for each day.

The Academic Response Team (ART) is an innovative school support model being pioneered at Boston Public Schools. The goal of ART's collaborative work is to impact student achievement through supporting school implementation of their Instructional Focus by strengthening instructional practice and supporting shared leadership through a growth mindset approach.In other words, I have the privilege of serving schools through1. Building instructional capacity of math and science teachers through offering professional development, co-planning, observation cycles, and constructive feedback focusing on research-supported strategies aligned with the school's adult learning goals2. Facilitating shared leadership by developing teacher leaders’ capacity to set and meet team-level adult learning goals through using efficient meeting structures, protocols, and inquiry cycles for team meetings 3. Consulting with school leaders to provide guidance, feedback, and resources on implementation of school-wide adult learning and culture goals

I taught AP Statistics, Precalculus, Bridge Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. I worked hard to integrate technology well into my classroom through student polling and on the fly data analysis, maintaining a Learning Management System website for student resources, and creating individualized learning paths using online curricula such as Khan Academy and Compass Learning. I dabbled in school-level data analysis by creating student surveys and conducting statistical analyses on student achievement data.I also served as math department chair, where I led discussions of best practices and encouraged vertical planning and alignment while setting and achieving ambitious growth goals for our department as measured by Tennessee End of Course testing.

I provided real-time and weekly constructive feedback on daily and weekly lesson plans, classroom management, and instruction strategies for a resident teacher. I also led weekly one-on-one meetings to review his progress toward year-long goals and set benchmark goals for the upcoming week.

I earned a Master of Urban Education degree through Union University, a partner of the Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR) program. As a part of that degree and the MTR program, I served as a resident teacher at Whitehaven High School, teaching Algebra 1. I wrote a capstone thesis researching how a student's personal identity narrative is shaped by cultural stories found in their environments.
