This role was a promotion, initially covering North Sea Group (UK, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands) and then due to reorganisation the UKG group (UK, Morocco, Mauritania, Cyprus, Malta and Israel); Revenues of up to $100m were controlled in challenging economic conditions  Reviewed and reported on monthly financial statements including detailed commentary on variances  Conducted annual plans and quarterly rolling forecasts  Planned and monitored capital expenditure and regularly reviewed the balance sheet  Supported the operations team with business advice, was involved with commercial tendering and was the financial lead on the new $28m Drilco facility  Integrating the changes in Geomarket structure with the many problems associated with foreign legal entities  Continued to drive through improvements in business processes both locally and with the Global Support Centre  Directed a team of six accountants remotely in Kuala Lumpur, a Finance Analyst and Accounts Receivable team in Aberdeen

This was a new role supporting the Europe and Africa Area Controllers for the Drilling Tools & Remedial (DT&R) and Bits and Advanced Technologies (B&AT) Smith segments; In addition I supported the 7 Area Geomarkets; It was a wide ranging role involving some foreign travel  Involved in troubleshooting problems that arise within the EAF area; these could be system based or business related Became an expert in many of the systems used by Smith and presented at the Asia Pacific Oracle ERP roll out in Bangkok  Advised on system usage, helped develop new reports and worked with IT to identify and test system errors  Advised on the application of the systems in order to achieve the correct accounting output  Advised on the application of and conformance with company policies and practices  Wrote many SQL queries generating reports which were distributed to the Geomarkets and Area Controllers  In addition to these standard reports also wrote ad hoc queries so as to analyse particular problems as and when they occurred or at the direction of the Area Controllers  Developed techniques to give transactional visibility between Oracle and the SAP BPC consolidation tool  Responsible for reviewing the EAF B&AT HQ financial statements, creating the annual plan and generating EAF HQ allocations  Involved to a lesser extent with DT&R’s EAF HQ  Responsible for the DT&R Area Central Warehouse inventory count, valued at $12m  Very much a team player and received a great number of queries from both the finance and operations communities  The link person between the EAF field, Houston IT and the Global Support Centre in Dubai

This role involved running the finance department and reporting to the Finance Director; the role had an accounts assistant as a direct report  Responsible for all aspects of the department from paying personnel and creditors to raising sales invoices, raising journal vouchers, all reconciliations and compiling monthly management results  Responsible for completing and submitting the quarterly VAT returns  Due to OIE Services being a small standalone company, much emphasis was placed on accurate cash flow forecasting  Frequent negotiations with the bank to arrange short term borrowings as well as negotiations with suppliers and Her Majesties Revenue and Customs  Calculated charge-out rates for new business whilst undertaking some commercial activities such as best value analysis  Liaising with directors and management was also an essential part of job  Whilst at OIE had to provide OIE financials for two takeovers one of which was successful  Facilitated external audits and HMRC investigation relating to previous years
