Overseeing a $1 billion (market value) real estate portfolio comprised of hotels, restaurants, and retail. Hotels are hard-branded (Marriott, Hilton, & Hyatt), Soft-branded (Curio), and Independent. Restaurants include the award winning Hank's Seafood in Charleston, SC and the recently opened RoofTop at Exchange in Jersey City, NJ.

• Asset Management Associate responsible for driving performance and creating investor value in a portfolio of 20+ hotels and retail centers valued at $500+ million. • Hotel portfolio includes both full service and select service hotels in all major brands (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and Starwood) spread across the United States.

• Led a successful lean operations consulting project resulting in improved communication between Operations, Sales, and Accounting through a more structured environment. • Implemented standard processes for Financial and Operational KPI reporting as well as standard documentation and best practices for all Operational procedures.

• Managed the financial control environment for 137 Marriott hotels within a five member team thereby improving the overall risk rating by 21% for the Europe Division.• Developed key operating standards for European hotels while adhering to the complexities of country specific laws resulting in 100% approval from the Division Executive team. • Created the Guest Auditor Program whereby I educated Hotel Finance Executives on important internal control issues which led to a 17% improvement in audit scores YOY. • Collaborated with Corporate Internal Audit department to identify potential compliance risk to UK tax laws and then implemented a risk reduction plan which was validated by the Division CFO.

• Awarded Manager of the Quarter by the Hotel Executive team as the Finance Department Manager overseeing a staff of six associates from mixed cultural backgrounds and aged from 21 to 57. • Collaborated with the Operations department to identify major guest concerns and implement strategies to reduce these concerns leading to a 12% improvement in satisfaction scores.• Created the Labor Leader Cup, a labor cost savings initiative, that helped reduce total hours worked by 10% to budget and the prior year which resulted in over $3M in wage and benefit savings. This competition is still in place today and has spread to other hotels as a best practice.• Developed and implemented a cash flow strategy to circumvent potential accounts payable shortfalls during $6M lobby renovation capital expenditure project resulting in no late vendor payments. • Prepared capital expenditure budget for a $25M guest room renovation and negotiated a $20M loan from the hotel owner to fund the project. • Accepted task force opportunity at the troubled Georgetown Marriott in which I collected over 75% or $2M in outstanding debt in 3 months. I also found internal positions for the 3 Finance staff associates prior to hotel leaving the Marriott portfolio.• Advised Sales and Marketing team on cost-benefit analysis of utilizing various market channels leading to a 7% reduction in S&M expenditures compared to budget while increasing market penetration by 5% in 2009.

• Distinguished as the Best New Talent award recipient in 2007 by the Regional Executive team as the Finance Department Manager of one of the largest Marriott hotels in the world while overseeing a staff of four associates.• Partnered with the Operating departments to develop a cost savings plan resulting in a 5% reduction in food cost and a 9% reduction in beverage cost YOY which contributed to an overall Profit improvement of 6% in 2007. • Designed and implemented many new processes including Marriott Rewards reimbursement and cash controls that led to a significant improvement in bad debt write offs and cash losses of more than 50% YOY.• Two-time Recipient of the Marriott Award for Outstanding Customer Service as I resolved complex billing issues resulting in nominations from the actual customers.
