Budd Bike Works celebrates over a dozen years as a personal pursuit of practical arts mastery and creative outlet more than as a business. Ever since I TIG welded what I imagined as the last bicycle frame I would ever need at United Bicycle Institute in 2004, I was driven to continue improving upon the design and fabrication of the bicycle frames that bear my name.I am once again soliciting sales of hand fabricated bicycle frames after a 4 year hiatus, but my ambition for the company has expanded to include prototyping and development of products for mass manufacture and contract design and manufacturing consultation. Capabilities of Budd Bike Works and current projects include.• Analysis of Biometric Data to customize design of human powered vehicles optimizing efficiency and comfort to maximize the user experience in any desired discipline of cycling from Cyclocross racing to grocery hauling. Delivery of Shop Drawings for contract production or executing fabrication with machine shop and welding capabilities• Design and manufacture of adjustable assembly fixtures to improve weldment precision, operator ergonomics and throughput. • Design refinement and prototyping of novel composite component to simplify mechanics of user interface with drop bar bicycle shifters. Design allows for compatibility between all manufacturers/eras of multispeed bicycle drivetrains utilizing a cable pulled parallelogram derailleur while optimizing rider ergonomics and safety. Initial real world tested prototypes were steel weldments, current iterations being 3D printed were modeled in Solidworks to allow for molded construction; though durability of initial 3D prints indicates that single piece flow could be realized by utilizing printing for production• Contract Design for cycling industry peers to adapt their products for integration of newly available technology • General machining and welding
