Maintained and troubleshot Ship's Self Defense System (SSDS) Mk2 Mod3A responsible for the integration of sensors, trackers, tactical data-links and weapons that provide defense against anti-ship cruise missiles on-board the USS Makin Island (LHD 8).SSDS Supervisor• Lead troubleshooting efforts that corrected a faulty fiber network for ship to shore communications for synthetic training environments.• Corrected network system time synchronization error that restored geographical positioning resulting in zero loss of life and zero loss of high value DoD assets during 2016/2017 deployment.• Created workaround for failed system boot-up that led to the completion of two national level taskings. Also saved over $60,000 in additional port dues, 3000 hours of deployment preparation, and over $70,000,000 in ship's annual life cycle cost in preparation for deployment. SSDS Lead Technician• Discovered and replaced LAN controller circuit card that prevented network system interfacing. Saved the unit over $10,000 in third party technical assistance.• Segmented and re-purposed faulty section of the training network topology to restore the synthetic training environment, scored 90% in combat system readiness and increased system interfacing time by 33%.• Corrected corrupted configuration of synthetic training server to achieve combat system certification which allowed the unit to go on the 2016/2017 deployment.Ship's Self Defense System (SSDS) Network Technician• Ensured network and watch team was over 95% operational through 2014/2015 deployment.• Discovered and replaced three defective power supplies that supported 2014/2015 mission accomplishment.• Corrected 35 faults across 16 workstations that allowed 85% of workstation operation, over 95% network operation and 100% mission completion for 2014/2015 deployment
