🤔Who am I?Let’s be honest, nobody grows up dreaming to become a recruiter… anybody who says they do, is probably lying. I thought by my mid-30's I’d have 5 Premier League titles to my name and enjoying early retirement, but here I am! Why?Well, turns out I was more ‘Sunday League’, but the soft skills I’d picked up through playing sports led to my first job in recruitment over a decade ago, and it’s been quite the journey since…Not all smooth sailing - the culture in those first few agency roles were like trading floors of 80’s brokerage firms – you know, the type you see in the films: high ego, hustle and bustle environments, with a bell ringing for each successful ‘sale’.I realised why the industry gets such a bad rep – ‘consultants’ placing too much emphasis on the bottom line, treating candidates and clients like a piece of stock, rather than people.Long story short, I didn’t embrace the cutthroat culture, and didn’t ‘bill’ as much as others. So, I got fired, twice.💡What is [hire]?Despite the negative cultures, I genuinely loved the job and knew I wanted change people’s perceptions of recruiters by delivering an honest, top-notch service. So, I founded [hire] – a recruitment agency with solid principles that puts livelihoods first (and doesn’t ring any bells!). Whilst getting the business off the ground, I managed recruitment for a non-profit social enterprise, helping young creatives land their first industry role. Here, I saw what a good business with solid values should look like, and that paved the way to transitioning full time into [hire].Initially, the focus was on the creative sector, placing talent within design and marketing, film and media, tech and digital.
