For two growing seasons, I served as Garden Director for F.H. King, the sustainable agriculture student organization at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I was responsible for seeing a 1.5 acre vegetable and fruit farm from start to finish, including farm planning, seed ordering, planting and cultivation, equipment orders, harvesting, and record-keeping. F.H. King also has an intern program, and I was responsible for setting hours, supervising teams of interns and volunteers, and coordinating work days and larger soil improvement techniques. Additionally, I helped other board members in the organization develop and execute educational programming, including workshops, farm tours, and farmer-in-the-classroom work in area schools. I served as the chief liaison between the broader Madison community and the sustainable agriculture work we performed.
