Contempory Artist, Art Installer and Student of Traditional Astrology.Contempory Art. As an independent contemporary visual artist, best known for producing large-scale collaborative projects and site-specific installations under the name ‘Matt Dabrowski and the Many Hands of Glamour’. my work is experimental and process driven rather than a propositionally systematised exhibition practice that would result in predictable outcomes. I utilise heuristic methodologies for exploring cross-disciplinary art-forms that advance complex and open-ended hypotheses. The spectacular absurdity of consumer fetishism to cosmic existential notions are common themes conveyed with a poetic, idiosyncratic and surreal aesthetic. Favouring satire, humour and irony, the predominant motivation behind my practice is to subvert popular beliefs that dispossess us from meaningful experience, fellowship and social connectedness. With a practice that spans 3 decades and extremely diverse media, my work has been exhibited extensively at Artist Run Spaces that allow curatorial independence such as Gallerie Brutal, Omniscient, The Farm, M.S.S.R. and NoFrills*; Institutions such as the I.M.A., S.L.Q., U.Q., G.U., Brisbane City Gallery, Artisan and Metro Arts, through to international sites such as Salone Satellite in Milan and Osage Art Foundation, Hong Kong.Art Installation. As a seasoned Art Installer with extensive professional Art handling experience, I've worked for many years in the galleries and major art institutions of my hometown of Brisbane since the early 1990's. These include: Queensland University of Technology Art Museum, University of Queensland Art Museum, Institute of Modern Art,Brisbane City Gallery, Museum of Brisbane, State Library of Queensland, Ipswich Art Gallery and many more smaller public and private art organisations.I was invited by Art Basel Hong Kong to assist in the installation of their prestigious annual Art Fair from 2015-2019. I am also the Art Installer working with Australia's National Government organisation, 'ArtBank', and its multimedia collection, for its clients in Brisbane.From 2007-2021, as a Senior Art Handler, my time was consumed with a demanding schedule of national and international exhibits at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane.I would describe myself as easy to work with, works well in a group, can take direction and give direction. I am reliable and sensitive to my clients concerns with a sense of equanimity and humour. Most of my challenges are problem solving and aesthetic solutions, looking for the best outcome.
