Currently lead the Developer Acceleration organization responsible for building the platforms for testing and release. Org maintains the functional test platform used by hundreds of internal developers, and the platform for releasing new versions of Splunk Cloud and Splunk Enterprise, used by our tens of thousands of customers.Until October 2024, managed an SRE team within the Developer Observability group focusing on reducing toil in cloud operations through automation, building tools and services to serve internal customers, and ultimately aiming to make a repeatable and smooth experience for our teams to make a reliable experience for our customers. Additionally led the 20-person Network Operations Center (NOC) whose job is to handle remediation of automated alerts for Splunk Cloud. Led the team through efforts that reduced our alert load by 40% through removal of pure-noise alerts, added processes to resolve issues at their root to prevent future failures, and added continuous improvement through post-incident reviews. Also led the Cloud Platform's weekly Production Review meeting, manage my organization's program review, and otherwise try to improve communication and efficiency within the org.

As manager, I led a few different teams with a number of reports ranging from 4 to 11. Shipped the 1.0 release of Splunk's Data Stream Processor, as well as multiple subsequent releases.I previously managed the SRE team supporting products used to Get Data In to Splunk. We helped service development teams be successful in running their cloud services through supporting reliability, availability, and scalability.Before that I managed the Data Stream Processor Runtime team, which built out the Kubernetes platform used by our on-premise product.

In addition to previous work, added a focus on better cloud release automation, service observability, and sane alerts for on-call engineers.

Helped transition our work from Rocana into what became Splunk's Data Stream Processor. Focused on building new REST APIs, their required database tables, as well as interconnect with Apache Flink APIs. Lots of additional work on our build process in gradle, CI/CD, and large-scale automated testing.

Platform Engineer that worked on a few different services including our Transformation Engine and Alerting Engine which would both later influence the Splunk Data Stream Processor. Other interesting projects included creating a System Test framework, and microbenchmarking Avro serialization and deserialization. Acquired by Splunk in October 2017

Software Engineer working mostly within research organizations. Main jobs included transforming existing C++ image processing algorithms to work with Hadoop MapReduce. Also handled an SVN to Git migration that was assigned to me while I was on my honeymoon :)
