As a graduate forester I worked as the Estate Planner for Ernslaw One in New Zealand. This involved modelling long term woodflow plans, yield database management as well as harvest reconciliations.Since then I have developed my knowledge of inventory collection by working as a contract plotter and research plotter in New Zealand and Ecuador. My combination of field experience and large database management enabled me to work in Cork, Ireland developing a new database management system and develop the systems and process for managing a newly purchased forestry investment portfolio spread across Ireland.Through this role, I developed and managed the inventory plotting procedures, planned silviculture operations including managing production thinning operations. These various tasks helped to develop my experience in working with experienced contractors and developing new graduates to provide the results we required.Throughout my career, I have also gained experience in supervising harvesting and road construction operations, developing budgets and short term strategies and designed various process documents for successors to carry on any roles seamlessly.These experiences have taught me how to interact with a variety of people in a range of roles and from a range of backgrounds. I have also learned the importance of accurate data and keeping systems concise and precise. I enjoy creating new processes that are easy to follow and create consistent results.
