At Welltok I helped drive the architecture and implementation of microservices in node as they migrated existing functionality out of a monolithic Ruby application. The move was motivated by a need to scale rapidly in AWS and a desire to greatly expand their capabilities to include real time monitoring, messaging, and application updates leveraging an ETL built on RabbitMQ and Redis.

I did a brief stint for this startup, developing front-end applications using Node.js, Angular.js, and Bootstrap, as well as backend services and an oAuth 2.0 server in Node. The technical stack with DoubleCheck was all AWS, leveraging Git, Bamboo, haproxy, and Thalassa for CI and rapid parallel deployments of multiple version of our codebase.

I was hired to fill the role of "senior javascript guru" but played a major role in the rearchitecture of our application extending into every aspect of our code. I helped launch our site internationally, designing a new MVC framework and updating nearly every aspect of our PHP application to follow MVC principals. I also developed new logging and interactive debugging tools which were showcased at Yahoo's annual TechPulse conference.I later helped with the rebuilding of two Yahoo! sites on a Node.js platform. This involved completely rearchitecting each site, resulting in dramatic performance increases and significant enhancements to our capabilities.

I led teams building large scale sites for many of the biggest financial institutions and media outlets in the world. My specialty was architecture and client-side scripting, especially html5 canvas based charting and performance tuning of javascript intensive applications, but we built applications on Microsoft technologies including IIS and C# / .NET.I was also directly involved with hiring and mentoring young developers and led instructional forums as opportunities for large groups to experience new technologies.
