Education Specialist Intern
Led instructional, educational programming with an equity and justice focus involving hands-on activities, educational tabling for visitors of surrounding recreation site, exhibit hall front desk fielding questions, comments, and information about the surrounding area and its history, aided tours for special equity-based tour groups, facilitated and supported Pre-K through 12th grade school and elderly, field trips, talking about historical interpretation of the watershed's history and culture, researched into special topics and interests related to history and culture of the watershed, hiked trails, led safety circles to establish rules and codes of conduct for emergencies and accesibility of events, led community discussions surrounding conflict management and resolution, aided the planning process for school tours, supervised tour groups across a range of age and cultural demographics, critiqued exhibit hall planning and layout with an equity and cultural justice focus, brainstormed potential programming, interpretation, and survey measures for future use in the watershed, aided in the creation of surveys and signage for the watershed, created graphics and posters for use in educational programming and advertisement, prepared and created instructional, educational materials like a brochure, advertisements, social media, and interpretive signs, collaborated with team members to ensure education goals set by the City of Seattle were met; supported the set up and take down of educational materials, supplies, and equipment for events and programs; brainstormed ideas for future implementation to broaden the public understanding of exhibit hall and Education Center materials. Facilitated, monitored, and supervised school groups on field trips from pre-K to middle school.
