Managing the e-commerce platform and all digital marketing channels.

This was an interim (6-month) contract to launch the digital marketing strategy for the 2 exclusive menswear brands in the Lacamanda Group, Bewley and Ritch (www.bewleyandritch.co.uk) and J. L. Berlue (jigglerlordberlue.co.uk).The contract included the project to build and apply the latest CRO practices to new e-Commerce websites for the brands, and then to plan and deploy the suite of digital marketing activities to return a minimum 5x on investment across PPC, SEO, social media and affiliate channels.

I started LED Planet as an online retailer of LED lighting. The vision was to provide affordable access to energy saving technology with a focus on great value and customer service. Following initial investment I started the business as a 1-man startup, and remained in an MD capacity as the business grew to over £1 million sales by year 2. My main responsibilities were in delivering the digital marketing activities through PPC, SEO, social media and affiliates, as well as managing the growing team. In year 2 I also conducted the make versus buy analysis to enter our own brand onto the market, and personally led on specifying and sourcing manufacture in China.Following organic growth in demand from trade customers and commercial clients, I expanded the business from pure play B2C e-commerce , into direct B2B trade sales (trade.ledplanet.co.uk) and an offline division providing commercial installations. We have helped hundreds of thousands of homeowners, as well as many well-known businesses like the BBC and Costa Coffee, recognise the benefits of LED technology. The mission of the business was always to impact energy usage beyond just LED technology, and so we merged with 2 other energy companies (ASC Renewables Ltd. and Qualitick Ltd.) following acquisition by the group Evergreen Energy. After selling the business, I was then made Head of Group Retail of Evergreen Energy.

I launched an e-commerce startup, originally as part of my final MBA project, but quickly realised that the concept had a longer term value. I therefore created a website which allowed visitors to set up their own business and add various bespoke services, through an interactive and sophisticated user experience. This proposition was completely unique at the outset, and when competitors caught onto the success of this package offering I exited, selling the code for 3x investment.
