Combining traditional university curriculums with courses in military science, the NROTC program trains qualified students for leadership and management positions as officers in the USN and USMC. Entry level management, administration and organizational experiences included:•Squad Leader: Responsible for seven squad members’ performance as successful university students. Developed monitoring, mentoring and communication skills while being held accountable for individual squad member performance. •Platoon Sergeant: Responsible for 37 ROTC students. Created, organized and led physical training programs, outdoor training activities, and educational events. •Battalion Operations Officer: This position ranked 3rd among 85 ROTC students and reported directly to commissioned officers of the USN and the USMC. Performed regular managerial duties such as creating the battalion’s “plan of the week”, conducting daily planning meetings, creating, planning, coordinating battalion level events and other duties as delegated by the officers. Participated in the planning and execution of fundraising events benefiting philanthropic organizations such as The Rise School of Austin and the Christopher Michael Zimmerman Memorial Foundation.US Military commitment completed January 2010.
