I am currently employed at South Gloucestershire Council as senior urban designer within the Policy team, but my time is spread across the Policy, Development Management and Major Sites teams. My main responsibilities include working with policy colleagues on the emerging Local Plan, focussing on the urban aspects, including developing our new Urban Lifestyles approach to optimised-density development in sustainable locations. I also provide urban design consultee advice on Major planning applications.

Urban Design Officer within the landscape team, responsible for urban design advice to the Development Management team and supporting a range of pubic realm and capital projects.

As Urban Design Officer, my primary role was to provide urban design advice to the Development Control (Development Management) team, and provided design advice on a wide range of minor and major applications, ranging from working on major urban regeneration schemes within sensitive historic settings, such as the new student halls at Blackfriars (Ladybellegate Street) and the original and later phases of the Gloucester Quays development, to greenfield development sites.Also led on the Gloucester Lighting Strategy which developed more than 18 architectural lighting schemes for historic structures within Gloucester, including the Cathedral Tower and St. Oswald's Priory.Developed and wrote the Gloucester Public Realm Strategy which set out locally distinctive and high quality public realm materials for use in the most historically sensitive areas of the city, such as the Cathedral Precincts, Gate Streets and Docks.

During my employment at DPDS I progressed from Graduate Urban Designer to Senior Urban Designer. responsibilities focussed on a number of large master-planning projects, including production of masterplans for the Southern Development Area expansion site, and the Gateway expansion area. I also developed scheme designs and design statements for various urban regeneration sites, including the Wagon Works and the former Victoria Hospital site in Old Town.
