As a result, the construction industry finds itself needing a simple yet advanced, robust and cost-conscious product. SMARTci is designed to fill this need as the most energy efficient, lowest cost continuous insulation solution. The effects of poor thermal envelope design result not only in heat loss and thermal read outs, but also ice, moisture and mold damage. In 1988, I designed a custom wall system for the Carlson Center in Fairbanks, Alaska that eliminated all thermal bridging except for the fasteners. Thus began the early development of SMARTci. The rest is history.

Because I have held many different roles across the construction industry, I have developed a multidisciplinary perspective that makes me comfortable engineering multidisciplinary systems, such as the continuous insulation solution. Leveraging this wide range of experience, I designed an insulated composite structural product to eliminate thermal bridges once and for all. From my substantial cladding background, I designed a system that accommodates a wide range of cladding and substrate configurations. From my field work, I not only understand the importance of common sense, easy-to-use products, I also know how to design solutions to building envelope issues.
