Responsible for supporting and enhancing Anaconda's technology strategy & vision, innovation, technology architecture & standards, and digital transformation efforts.
Responsible for setting the strategy, roadmap and vision for a company's product portfolio. This includes conducting market research, defining product requirements, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that the products meet both customer needs and business goals.
Overall design and architecture of various solutions. These included: database backends; N-tier applications; backup and monitoring solutions; automation; and more. I was the sole technical decision maker for most of these solutions. In my first 3 months at the company, I was able to save ~$10k/month on our AWS bill, by optimizing numerous services/components. I continued to provide ongoing cost savings by incrementally optimizing our product stack that was deployed on AWS. I am also the SME for most of our systems/software. Via automation that I implemented, we were able to run our entire system/service footprint with ¼ of the previous number of employees, freeing them up to work on value-add tasks.
Responsible for the architecture of all new products and services. This included: defining all of the requirements, based on user and/or business requests or needs; hardware/software evaluation and selection; pilot/beta implementation and testing; product/service rollout; all training and documentation. I was also the SME for all of support and engineering. I successfully implemented a number of products that increased the revenue of the company by at least 30%, including: direct attached storage (branded and commodity); storage area networking; new server and switch lineups; the first Cloud offering for the company; as well as many others. I also implemented a high degree of automation for various procedures, saving the company thousands of hours of man-time.
Responsible for development of new cloud products and features for SunGard’s Cloud offering. This includes new product/technology evaluation, designing and building solutions, and integration with existing features. These projects included: a new Storage as a Service offering (Engineering Lead); Private Cloud feature development; and a High-Performance Storage interim solution (Engineering Lead). Additional responsibilities: Cisco UCS firmware and hardware upgrades; VMWare vSphere 5 testing and certification for production deployment; engineering support for Dev and QA environments.
Design large-scale solutions to support Rackspace customer’s needs for monitoring, directory services, patching, and many others within the scope of Segment Support. These systems must support thousands of customer servers, network devices, etc. and be functional 100% of the time. My responsibilities also include vendor/product selection, evaluation and testing. I was also the escalation point for the Systems Engineers that supported these systems for any issues that may arise. As part of solution design, I must take into account any server, storage or networking requirements and include those as well. I also was responsible for designing any necessary solutions (within the scope of Segment Support) for new datacenters that Rackspace opens, including cost, implementation timelines and tasks, etc.
