Brought numerous overdue tooling programs up to date while delivering dramatic cost and efficiency improvements. Used existing resources and manpower to develop Intranet-accessible, 7,000-part component catalog that is maintained and automatically updated using existing QS-9000 procedures.  Executed market research and benchmarking of the compact market segment.  Designed engine compartment wiring and components for the 2000 Neon; cut costs 5%, increased revenue 10% and reduced warranty issues on design that remained largely unchanged for 5 years.  Created initial wiring design for the entire 1996 Sebring JX vehicle and developed common engine compartment for Sebring and Cirrus to reduce complexity and parts. Directed extensive computer-aided design effort to resolve critical packaging issues for body and instrument panel wiring, achieving a 50% reduction in inventory parts and a saving of over $1.75 million in tooling costs.  Simplified 1995 Cirrus engine and battery harness design and brought project—26 weeks behind schedule—to cost and timing targets in just 3 months.  Radically redesigned 1994 Neon body wiring to eliminate 14 part numbers and 2 harness assembly lines; brought seriously late program current while saving over $.5 million in tooling and annual inventory costs. Coordinated Chrysler’s first use of CATIA computer-aided design software for wire harness modeling in 1991 for the 1994 season. Replaced by four engineers at promotion to Manager, Resident Engineering.

New and carry-over designs of the power mirror, door lock, sunroof, vent, reading lamp and window switches for the ’91 Mini-van and ’94 Neon. This position allowed me to continue an area of interest; the quantification of the ‘feel’ of interior controls, after the Product Excellence task force was disbanded.
