Matt is a comparative sports law academic whose research utilities approaches to employment law and regulatory theory. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate business law units at the Melbourne campus of the College of Business at Central Queensland University. In 2019 Edward Elgar published Matt’s book titled ‘Globalisation, Sports Law and Labour Mobility: the Case of Professional Baseball in the United States and Australia’. He has also published in Australian and international law and business journals and contributed to several books. Matt's experience in Australian baseball extends to over 30 years, including player, junior/senior and elite pathway coach, various roles in professional baseball and most recently administration serving on several boards of baseball sports governing organisations.
