As a Trainee Assistant Site Manager, I will be responsible for supporting the Site Manager in the day to day running of the site. On this fast track scheme to assistant, I will be studying alongside the role to achieve a level 4 NVQ accredited by the NHBC.

My final role was as Leave Well Projects Officer within the Future People Policy team at Navy Command HQ. I was managing the digital transformation of the Royal Navy leaving process in support of the 'leave well' initiative which aims to improve the leaving process for service leavers. Second in command (2IC) of the Royal Navy (RN) contingent for OP ILKANE which supported Border Force during their time of Industrial Action (Nov 22- Aug 23). Main responsibility was to ensure the RN provided the required support when strike action was announced. This included oversight of over 160 people to conduct the relevant training and deploy to an operating location when required. It then involved direct management of those personnel in the operating environment.

An Observer in the Royal Navy fulfils all of the mission related duties in one of the Royal Navy's maritime helicopters. The role in the Wildcat HMA2 helicopter is a left hand seat role which encompasses responsibilities like navigation, radar system and sensor manipulation, communications and weapons system operating. On the ground, the Observer is also responsible for the mission planning and pre flight briefing, ensuring all of the requisite pre flight planning rules are adhered to. As well as being an Observer, the job is carried out as a commissioned officer in the Royal Navy, so when on the ground, the day to day responsibilities extend to those expected of a Royal Naval Officer.

I worked at a quarry for the site electrician to assist in maintaining the system equipment and surrounding area electrics. This would range from basic house electric wiring to dealing with splitting down larger industrial cabling. The experience that I gained was very much learning on the job and in the short time in this role I developed a wide range of practical skills. I was exposed to handling power tools, working at height and dealing with health and safety procedures.

In this role, I was sat front of house on the service desk at the Ford garage in Yeovil. I would meet with customers, speak to them over the phone and make bookings in regards to their car servicing needs or repair work. This required a good understanding of regular servicing requirements and diagnosing car faults. I would be responsible for manging the booking system and filing invoices. On top of this, communication with the mechanics and workforce controller was key as I was the main conduit between them and the customer.
