About Matt Rogers
I am a planning student at the University of Waterloo. With this education, I would love to pursue a career in the real estate development industry, and will use the knowledge gained from my studies to better understand the impacts of the public sector, and it's associated legislation, on private sector development and operations. I also enjoy politics (yes, really), and have been politically involved in my community for a number of years - working on 2 higher-level government campaigns, as well as attending and presenting at numerous council meetings in my home city, and running for Cambridge City Council in the 2022 municipal elections, where I received ~20% of the popular vote as a 19-year-old facing a two-term incumbent. I've always had an interest in business, so during my time at UW, I intend to take various courses in that field, culminating into a BET (business, entrepreneurship and technology) minor. With this knowledge and these academic qualifications, I hope to one day work in the development industry to create a meaningful, positive impact for communities. To anyone currently in any of the aforementioned industries, any insight, experience, wisdom and/ or guidance that you can impart upon me would be welcomed with open arms and open brain cells! 🙂

Serving as the Vice Chair for CCTAC. Engaging with City and Region officials, staff and advocates to advance Cambridge's status as a deeply car-centric city towards one that is safer and more friendly to all people who move around - on a car, on foot, on a bike, using a mobility device, and everything between.
Committee Of Adjustment
Due to professional obligations in Alberta, and the lack of a hybrid meeting option, I had to step down as a member of the CoA prior to the end of the 2022-2026 term. The option to re-join once I return to Cambridge remains open, and I look forward to entertaining the idea, pending other professional and academic responsibilities and workloads.

City Council Candidate
This was an amazing experience that I will be forever grateful to have had. It wasn't easy doing everything alone (I don't like asking for help, it's possibly my greatest weakness), but I walked away with nearly 20% of the popular vote.
