I never thought I would be in sales or sales management but I have found that my love for people, personal development, problem solving, and strategy are exactly why I gravitated towards sales and management.In college I was recruited as a freshman to sell books door-to-door with the Southwestern Company in Nashville Tennessee. I learned very quickly that cold calling straight commission sales was not for everyone, however I stuck it out and at the end of the summer I earned a big check. I quickly realized that what I was learning in my psychology classes translated really well to sales and management. I then went on to work for Southwestern for seven years, learning how to recruit, train, and build sales teams. Although I didn’t follow my initial path which was to become a counselor, I found that building and developing people through sales and sales management was my new passion.In 2011 I was ready to move on from Southwestern and Whitten and Roy Partnership recruited for a sales consulting role in Cambodia, I love to travel and the idea of learning how to do consulting was enticing so I moved to Cambodia for a year and a half. When I took what I had learned about selling and applied it to the WASH project in Cambodia, I realized I loved building sales strategies. After a very successful project, I decided to move back to America and work with Whitten and Roy Partnership fulltime.I have now been working with Whitten and Roy partnership for nine years, and instead of knocking on doors, I am now doing sales strategy designs for B2B and B2C clients. Developing, everything from sales agent recruiting strategies, incentives plans, complex sales frameworks, CRM management, sales data analysis, coaching, and sales management strategy. I consider myself a sales expert having done it for sixteen years, but the best part about sales and management is that it is a people business, so it is always changing and there is always more to learn.
