*Working as a highly skilled engineer, responsible for assuring TTB ethernet products, EAD, EFM and EoFTTC. *Expert knowledge of Openreach and TalkTalk networks and hardware at exchanges and customer premises. *Liaising with internal and external resolver groups, from IOC, IP access, provisioning, Qube, Comms-Care and Openreach. Often relaying complex information to ensure minimum disruption for our partners and their customers.*Monitoring Juniper or Cisco layer 2 and other network devices, to diagnose switch faults. Our main tool for diagnostics is to remotely telnet or SSH onto the switches using TACACS/superputty. This is a command-based system that allows me to carry out ping tests, check running config, port stats, port configuration, VLAN configuration, port stability, routing, port status, bi-directional traffic, mac addresses, for example. I also use Cacti graphing on these switches to monitor traffic flow and drops, looking for any network anomalies.*Diagnosing faults on customer devices, such as RAD LA210 boxes and cisco routers, using TACACS/superputty commands to determine where faults are located.*Liaising with Openreach engineers through co-op calls to extensively test the copper network and resolve faults.*Using JDSU testing systems to identify complex faults.*Liaising with Qube engineers to assist with on the premises testing.*Liaising with suppliers like Kentons and Comms-Care to replace faulty equipment.
