Cover all aspects of spectator safety on race days, normal duties include preparing for the race meeting, briefing the team and on-going monitoring of large numbers of people, dealing with security issues and unruly race goers. Responsible for safe movement of the jockeys from the changing rooms to the parade ring. Working as part of a five man team at Royal Ascot at York horse racing meeting on the busiest two days, Friday and Saturday. The team’s duties included working alongside North Yorkshire Police and Her Majesty the Queen’s security service, securing any public area Her Majesty would wish to frequent. These places are known as sterile areas and the five members of the team were the only civilian operatives allowed within the area.

Responsible for minor celebrities safety in busy nightclub after they perform or make personal appearances. Organise stage security during performances. Process V.I.P parties and deal with front of house problems. Administer first aid to injured casualties or patrons suffering alcohol or drug overdoses. Detain any person committing an arrestable offence to be dealt with by the police. Eject anyone acting in an undesirable manner. Worked in a varied range of venues including commercial nightclubs and bars and venues such as Doncaster Warehouse and Niche in Sheffield.Responsible for the monitoring of the spectators external to the ground prior to matches taking place. Ensure safe ingress of fans and keep order around the turnstiles. Half time duties included ensuring only appropriate persons entered the VIP area and advise others of ground rules and regulations. Recently worked on a voluntary basis assisting with pre-match preparation of the steward team.

Was in charge security and safety issues at one of the largest outdoor shopping centres in the U.K (52, 215 sq m of accommodation plus 2000 car parking spaces). In charge of the centre in the absence of the Manager with full authority to deal with all staff, contractors, customers and store management. Responsible for the day to day running of the security team, including planning roster, training of staff, recruitment, disciplinary procedures and ensuring a high level of service is maintained at all times. Designed and produced all sheets, forms and letters required for efficient running of the security team. Enforce company policies on the centre. Administer first aid to sometimes severe casualties and liaise with paramedics and ambulance crews. Document all incidents, which can involve substantial amounts of paperwork and use of a PC. Direct operations from a camera room whilst operating a remote CCTV system. Daily Health and Safety checks carried out and documented.

General labouring duties, then basic plumbing jobs leading to advanced tasks. Carried out general building maintenance work. Trained an apprentice to a good standard. Left to start own business, feeling a new challenge was necessary.
