Matt's healthcare innovation team is responsible to select, develop, fund and implement new business ideas. For Yee Hong seniors and their families, innovation means better care and closer connection with our extended community. Successful projects include assistive robots, best-practice dementia and prescribing models, university partnerships and hundreds of additional nursing beds coming to Scarborough, Markham and Mississauga long-term care facilities.Yee Hong is the leader for culturally appropriate services to Chinese and other ethnic seniors in the Greater Toronto Area, and among the largest providers of residential seniors’ care. Only municipalities operate more non-profit long-term care beds than Yee Hong anywhere in Ontario or across Canada.

Led the Transformation Office of Transform Shared Service Organization. TransForm is jointly owned by five Erie St Clair hospitals, responsible for information technology, information management, project implementation and supply chain services.Transformation Office includes quality programs, project management and regional implementation of the provincial electronic health record. Health service providers across the care continuum rely on Transformation Office to implement large- and medium-scale technology projects; to standardize project delivery and reporting; for direct support to their clinical quality initiatives; and to enhance their in-house capacity for project management and continuous quality improvement.Transformation Office managed the region's inaugural Health Link, introducing first-in-Ontario care management technologies in Chatham-Kent. Health Links support Ontario’s campaign to provide seamless, integrated care to the most complex and vulnerable patients.

Led a team of health sector professionals planning, managing and evaluating a client care transformation project for seniors with age-related dementia. BSO is a collaboration that unites hundreds of partner organizations from the long-term care, acute, primary care and community services sectors. My office coordinated the support of Health Quality Ontario, Alzheimer Knowledge Exchange and expert advisory committees, and monitored progress toward our care quality goals.

Led development of avoidable hospitalization initiatives linked to the government’s transformational healthcare reforms, the Excellent Care for All Act, 2010. Fostered a network of stakeholder contacts to build expert consensus behind program design, timelines and targets.

Project manager for $180M “Pay-for-Results” hospital incentives program to fund service improvements in Ontario Emergency Rooms. Consulted internal and external stakeholders, determined priorities and resources, developed appropriate performance metrics, monitored project milestones to ensure delivery. Designed structures for governance, accountability and evaluation, most notably annual “ER Action Plans” showing cost-benefit and risk analysis of each hospital’s blueprint for ER performance improvement.
