Following a successful placement year at Lubrizol, I was invited back as a Laboratory Technician to ease an increase in workload and conduct testing and development projects. As a graduate, my level of responsibility increased within the department allowing me to improve working practices and better align testing to global standards. I have also supported the implementation of new testing to allow customers to mimic industry conditions in bench top testing. Main responsibilities include:• Organise and prioritise laboratory testing in support of customer needs• Address problems from customers, processes or procedures where the cause may not be obvious• Perform a wide range of procedures, trouble shoot equipment or instruments and understand underlying operating principles seeking to reduce variability• Maintain quality of equipment and flow of key supplies

I worked as a member of the Blend Test Services team running both standard and novel analytical testing on automotive oil samples from around the world. During my time at Lubrizol, I conducted a large scale project for my university course which was funded by the company. This enabled me to act as project manager and design and schedule the testing as I saw fit. I was also solely responsible for collecting and interpreting the results which were presented to other project managers and segment leaders within the company.
