My role at Mercedes + Singh Design and Fabrication has been dynamic over the years, ranging from full-time design research to fabrication and design output. My roles typically involved assisting with fabrication specifications and drawings, design and fabrication research into new and existing modes of practice, and helping the fabrication team with constructing our designs.

As a Graduate student a part of the Master of Environmental Design program (MEDes) at the University of Calgary, my role as a graduate research assistant involves weaving together academic research into practical domains of design and architecture. Current research focuses on the performance of building envelopes, and how emerging digital tools can help to achieve performance goals.

My teaching assistant positions were within robotic fabrication courses, to which I helped the instructor with robotic cell setups and programming. I also gave assistance to the teaching of tool path programming through parametric software for the students, and further assisted them with program troubleshooting robotic fabrication tasks in the studio/workshop.

As a co-director and a team leader, I help make important design decisions, while helping to direct the team towards developing our current design project; the net-zero transit shelter. My role involves coordinating with team members, helping in setting up meetings, and helping in managing the design progress of the team overall.

As part of a diverse team, my role within the C3 Initiative is collaborating towards the final goal of designing, developing, and implementing a net-zero commuter shelter. With prior experience with the Fuse Collective in designing small-scale shelters, and my background in architecture, I contribute to new design ideas and strategies that considers multiple challenges of project development and design. With an overall emphasis on green-building principles, working with the C3 Initiative is a productive learning process that seeks to benefit everyone involved.

Architectural design of a community garden (the C3 Initiative). Typical design processes involve a collaborative experience of working alongside a diverse group of U of C and SAIT students to design and implement a new garden shelter for the community of Dover. Comprehensive engagement in this project insures proper design processes while providing students a unique way to create a difference within the community.
