Matt Whiteley is, from Jan 2023, the headteacher of Rowley Hall Primary in Sandwell. His goal is to take the school on a journey to become an amazing school for it’s community. He was previously (from 2006 - 2020) Headteacher of Batchley First School in a deprived area of Worcestershire. The school, based in Redditch, grew in many ways during that time. It continued to grow in numbers to be a 2-form entry school, and whilst serving an area of high deprivation, had an embedded fully inclusive culture, despite being in one of the lowest funded authorities in the country. The school attracted a number of children who are out of catchment from challenging backgrounds. This reflects the ethos created through the years of his headship. His personal passion for sport has ensured the school developed an excellent reputation for practice in this area.Matt is a wholly person centred headteacher. This means that his management style allows people to develop their own passions to the benefit of all children. The approach ensures a wide range of skills and activities, from the Arts to sport, which are offered to all. From Since 2016, the school was commissioned to provide Early Years Language classes across the north of the county, which won two National awards in 2018.He left that school in August 2020 and widened his experience of a range of schools through interim leadership, supply teachingThe transferable skills he has developed through his years in the role, in a wide range of areas from finance to public speaking, hopefully will be an asset in the leadership of any organisation.
