About Matt Williams

I am currently directing the conservation efforts for the Sam Shine Foundation, a leading conservation foundation based in Indiana. As part of my role, I am developing a bird conservation program that seeks to work with a variety of partners to help protect a number of species of birds that are declining across the eastern United States. Prior to my current role, I worked for The Nature Conservancy for 26 years leading conservation work across our science, land protection, land stewardship and freshwater teams. I have a long history developing conservation strategy, and leading teams to get results. I'm also an award-winning author and photographer. You can check out some of my work at www.mattwilliamsnaturephotography.com.

This included habitat mapping and mist netting Golden-cheeked Warblers on the Fort Hood military base in central Texas as well as managing a 2300 acre coastal prairie preserve near Galveston Texas where we had one of the last two locations of Attwater's Prairie-Chicken at the time. Finally, from 2001-2007 I was a land steward for The Nature Conservancy in northern Indiana.
