This internship was through the UK Space Agency's Space Placement in INdustry (SPIN) scheme which comprised of completing a project for the host and presenting a poster about it at the National Earth Observation Conference held at the University of Birmingham. My project was to design a system that was accurate yet cost-effective to collect weather data for satellite communications. This involved identifying hardware, writing code to interface with the sensors, getting price quotes from suppliers and communicating the proposed design with an ESA representative. Additionally to the project I also presented a talk about studying at university to the year 12 summer school students and helped the onsite apprentices use maths, physics and microsoft excel to calculate a link budget analysis.
