Through opening a psychologically informed environment on a mixed gender acute ward, I have gained a wide range of invaluable experiences these include referring to and liaising with other services such as psychology teams, Bristol Drugs project and advocacy services. Working closely with individuals and maintaining a triangle of care means that I also often liaise with family and carers to gain their input on care, while providing reassurance and support for carers. I have shown clear and good communication skills through working on the ward through; building good therapeutic relationships with service users providing 1:1 time, creating care plans, positive behaviour plans, behaviour activation, being involved in de–escalation, and providing information. I have taken on my own roles and responsibilities such as being wellbeing lead, meaning that I have created a safe working environment and provide all staff in the MDT time and space to reflect and discuss any issues. I have implemented a startwell-endwell programme that works as a reflective practice for staff to start the shift with something positive, and to end on something positive that has happened during the shift. I have also implemented an anonymous staff praise that is to be read in team meetings, a strava steps challenge to promote wellbeing during lockdowns, more frequent team meetings and debriefs, creating self-care and wellbeing displays in staff areas, and attending regular meetings with wellbeing leads and psychologists across the trust.Secondly, as activity lead, I have worked to create daily activities and schedules to keep service users stimulated, in effort to aid recovery by personalising tasks and making these fit the individual's abilities such as problem solving tasks or memory games that are aligned with the OT MoCa. I have also organised a therapeutic and low stimulation space on the ward with posters and infographics for self-grounding and breathing techniques for independence.
