My job duties included: - Monthly stewardship and monitoring catalyst health- Managing the solvent and propylene balance- Support operations during shutdown, start up and day to day challenges- Collaboration with HFC technical teams to share successes and learnings- Supported start-up and shutdown activities, updated procedures, coordinated RFQ/operation nitrogen sweep vendor

Nanticoke Refinery

Programmed new VBA tools for use on site, assisting with management of change protocols, as well as overtime and training tracking. Adapted coke models from Grace Davidson for plant’s real time optimization system, also created the energy models for steam, fuel and coke power production for the fluidized catalytic cracking unit (FCCU). Designed pages using the Siemens XHQ software to provide real time information from indicators throughout the plant for tracking energy models, energy use and blending spec targets. Implemented new SAP tool teaching 60 people on its use and was primary contact for implementation. Performed technical inspections of deaerator, vacuum tower, heater and atmospheric tower. Backfilled and troubleshooted for tank, FCCU, sulfur unit, amine unit, boiler house and water treatment plant tech contacts

I was a teaching assistant for Sustainability 3SO3 which is a third year course that has a focus on interdisciplinary experiential learning. Students have the opportunity to choose projects in the community such as creating a biodegradable red solo cup, organizing a textbook exchange program, assisting in quinoa separation at a local farm, and also Bruce trail conservation efforts. One of my duties was leading engaging tutorial classes for students from a variety of disciplines and answer sustainability and course related information. I also created all the tests for the course, and assisted with the experiential projects through guidance and advice.

Deep River Ontatio

Did hands on research with the Hydrogen Isotopes Branch at Atomic Energy Canada Limited using membranes and electro-chemistry on a unique separation device. I was given two co-op students to work with in the latter half of the summer. I was a trusted mentor, due to my strong interpersonal skills, leadership and time management. My experience at AECL showcased my ability to lead and organize a research team to meet deadlines. I also did a week-long course to work safely in an environment with radioactive hazards.

Worked with the materials and mechanics branch doing cutting edge research and also mentoring two high school students. Did research looking at hydriding and deuteriding in Zr2.5Nb pressure tubes from a CANDU nuclear reactor. Worked on the development of the loop method, a new way of analyze the dissolving of hydrogen/deuterium in Zr2.5Nb and Zircalloy using Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC). Became extremely proficient with the use of TA universal analysis and with the use of Microsoft Excel. Worked with diamond saws and completed Group 3 Radiation Protection training. For six weeks taught two co-op students about the project and created relevant assessments for them.
