Served as a Presidential Appointee for the Obama Administration on immigration issues. Acted as liaison between six program offices. Created special initiatives including the first-ever agency stakeholder outreach in Spanish. Advocated for efforts to expand agency language access to languages such as Chinese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Hindi, and Haitian Creole.

Crafted and directed 13-state bilingual outreach program to educate and motivate Latinos to participate in 2010 Census. Trained organizations, partnered with press, and developed public service announcements and materials to ensure an accurate count of Latino communities in 32 targeted counties from Virginia to Maine. Interviewed by Spanish-language outlets such as Univision, Telemundo, Radio Bilingüe, and Impacto Latin News.

Coordinated legal assistance and provided direct counseling in Spanish for immigrant clients facing issues such as wage theft, deportation, and workplace discrimination. Led bilingual phonebanking efforts for comprehensive immigration reform campaign.

Developed and executed field program. Recruited volunteers, trained staff, and implemented get out the vote plan. Established teams to knock on over 35,000 doors during final days. Led county to record 250,000 vote margin. Special constituent focus on Latino, Jewish, and LGBT communities. Also won 13-way race to represent Missouri’s 3rd Congressional District as a pledged delegate at the Democratic National Convention.

Developed project on immigrants and education system in Spain. Awarded grant to visit schools, conduct first-person interviews, and gather primary source materials for published article comparing Madrid and Barcelona school systems. Wrote senior thesis in Spanish on the relationship between Latin American immigrants and the Catalan language in Barcelona.

Planned Labor Day programs at over 30 local synagogues on the theme of immigrant workers’ rights. Engaged youth, clergy, and adults with tailored activities and textual resources. Also mobilized Jewish community for campaigns on affordable housing, immigrant hotel workers, and retailer accountability.
