Matthew Albuquerque is an ABC-certified prosthetist and orthotist with over twenty-five years of experience in the field. Matt is the founder and president of Next Step Bionics & Prosthetics, Inc. and primarily works in the Manchester, New Hampshire facility. He chose this occupation because of his strong desire to help people, and as a result, Next Step fits amputees with artificial limbs tailored to the needs of each individual. Matt’s care and concern for the success of others is demonstrated not only in the way that Next Step does business on a daily basis but also through a positive impact upon the profession and the communities that Next Step serves.Matt graduated from Stonehill College in North Easton, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He underwent his orthotic training at Rancho Las Amigos Medical Center through the University of California and received prosthetic instruction at Northwestern University. Matt plays an integral part in the development of advanced upper-extremity technologies, working as a prosthetic consultant for Dean Kaman and designing the interface used for the DARPA-funded DEKA Luke Arm project. He also specializes in pediatric orthotic and prosthetic care.Matt lives in Bedford, New Hampshire with his wife Kathleen and their sons Kyle and Dylan. He is a graduate of the Leadership Greater Manchester program, the former chairperson for Easter Seals’ Veterans Count Advisory Board, and a past member of the New Hampshire State Veterans’ Cemetery Board of Directors. Matt stays involved with the Wounded Warrior Project, and he volunteers as a Little League and basketball coach. In his free time, Matt can often be found on the golf course.
