Acting as the subject matter expert for corrosion, materials, and fixed equipment engineering for Rodeo Refinery's transition to a renewable fuels processing facility.

As a Corrosion & Materials Engineer at the Phillips 66 Rodeo Refinery I am responsible for:•Providing practical, economical solutions to metallurgical, corrosion, and welding problems that arise in the Refinery.•Assuring compliance with codes, State Safety Orders, Refinery Standards, and Industry Practices required in the construction and/or repair of pressure vessels, piping and other pressure containing equipment.•Conducting failure investigations and corrosion studies on systems and equipment.•Reviewing and/or specifying material selections, welding, NDE, heat treatment, and coating requirements proposed for new construction, repairs and metallurgical upgrades of facilities.•Assembling, editing and issuing Work Requests for inspection of equipment. Writing/reviewing weld travelers and welding specifications.•Selecting nondestructive testing equipment and techniques for inspection and troubleshooting of Refinery equipment.•Consulting with project engineers for small projects and review the design packages for compliance to applicable codes and standards. Reviewing material selection, design, and integrity of major projects.

As a Corrosion Engineer Intern I was tasked with challenging and impactful projects:•Evaluation of hydroprocessing reactor shut down limits. Using manufacturers specifications and ASME codes, evaluated the safety of existing maximum allowable operating temperatures.•Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) survey and risk ranking of pressure vessels refinery wide.•Small bore piping vibration survey. Worked with rotating equipment experts to evaluate small bore piping safety of operation when exposed to vibration.
