I have more than 18 years experience of designing, supporting, and leading innovative cultural programmes. I'm particularly keen on work which makes a difference to people's lives and aspirations, and that helps communities thrive. My vast experience includes:Arts engagement & inclusionProject design and managementEvaluation (planning though to delivery)Fundraising (strategy, grants, memberships)Event co-ordinationModular synthesisMusic performance and composition (experimental / immersive)I have a history of setting up and supporting a variety of cultural projects and events for clients and through Moogie Wonderland which i set up in 2006. My work has included designing and delivering the Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra programme for young people in Cornwall with learning differences (providing electronic music skills, and engineering skills that can be applied to the local sectors); creating an affordable 'collaboration' space for people to try out making music; curating interactive art club nights; and promoting music events (from Grandmaster Flash to a 5-day participatory music festival). I am ambitious and deliver high quality events that go beyond traditional audience experiences - from concerts on ships to warehouse parties. I have helped to co-ordinate evaluation and sharing conferences, including for RNIB's 'Sensing Culture' conferences and for the SWFed.As a musician, composer, and music educator I have had work featured on BBC Radio 3, BBC 6 Music and in The Guardian, MOJO, Uncut, and Electronic Sound. I have performed across the UK and in Europe, and released music through Sonic Cathedral (as a member of Mildred Maude) I'm a visiting lecturer at Falmouth University, specialising in immersive performance and electronic music.I am trained in fundraising: I was one of four people in the South West (15 in the UK) chosen for the industry recognised Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Fellowship - part of a £2m Arts Council England-funded project, which included attendance at the National Arts Fundraising School. As a creative thinker, I design and implement innovative arts fundraising strategies.I have advised on evaluation frameworks and have delivered high quality evaluation reports that demonstrate impact and provide learning.Social Media Management:I have eight years experience of internet moderation, community management and digital marketing. Most projects are participatory and encourage people of all abilities to create art and work towards artistic excellence. The projects provide an alternative route into the arts, focussing on concept and ideas rather than technical skills, but without underestimating the abilities of anyone. Projects have included:Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra - launched in 2022, young pariticants take part in making music in a different way to traditional music lessons using our fun ‘noise stations’ and alternatives to regular notation. The orchestra gained BBC Radio 3 airplay within 3 months of forming. As an Arts Award Centre, we also offer the option of working towards an Arts Award (Discover level), for children who come along regularly.co:noise - events where musical instruments are set up in a way where audiences can experiment collaboratively with sonics in a live setting, and workshops to build instruments/create visual scores. These events have seen participants perform on stage with Aphex Twin and Damo Suzuki (Can).Very Long Arms - a commission by the Tate. Very long arms were made for attendees to perform with as an 'art prop'. People of all ages used the arms to circle groups of people, skip with, hug, and move with.Bearhaus - a one night movement in performance art at Newlyn Art Gallery. Attendees wore bear hats, and in doing so became artists of the movement. They were encouraged to improvise performances throughout the night, and add to the manifesto.Something's Coming to Town - a one month programme of exhibitions in a shipping container.Artist-led club nights - regular indiepop and French pop club nights which had a variety of participatory art activities and played host to a curated programme of video art.
