Most projects are participatory and encourage people of all abilities to create art and work towards artistic excellence. The projects provide an alternative route into the arts, focussing on concept and ideas rather than technical skills, but without underestimating the abilities of anyone. Projects have included:Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra - launched in 2022, young pariticants take part in making music in a different way to traditional music lessons using our fun ‘noise stations’ and alternatives to regular notation. The orchestra gained BBC Radio 3 airplay within 3 months of forming. As an Arts Award Centre, we also offer the option of working towards an Arts Award (Discover level), for children who come along regularly.co:noise - events where musical instruments are set up in a way where audiences can experiment collaboratively with sonics in a live setting, and workshops to build instruments/create visual scores. These events have seen participants perform on stage with Aphex Twin and Damo Suzuki (Can).Very Long Arms - a commission by the Tate. Very long arms were made for attendees to perform with as an 'art prop'. People of all ages used the arms to circle groups of people, skip with, hug, and move with.Bearhaus - a one night movement in performance art at Newlyn Art Gallery. Attendees wore bear hats, and in doing so became artists of the movement. They were encouraged to improvise performances throughout the night, and add to the manifesto.Something's Coming to Town - a one month programme of exhibitions in a shipping container.Artist-led club nights - regular indiepop and French pop club nights which had a variety of participatory art activities and played host to a curated programme of video art.
