As a software engineer at Localytics, I worked primarily on the "Attribution" feature crew. This meant I was responsible for building and maintaining product features that allowed our customers to track the effectiveness of their user acquisition efforts via Facebook, Twitter, Google Adwords, and Google DoubleClick, as well as a long-tail of 60+ smaller advertising networks. My responsibilities involved feature design and development including: - database migrations (MySQL / Vertica) - development of front-end reporting and administrative tools (Ruby on Rails / Angular) - development of high-throughput and high-availability back-end micro-services (Scala). - thorough unit and integration tests for all new features - numerous API integrationsMy Key Contributions:1. Extended, refactored, and monitored an uptime critical redirect service responsible for servicing $2M worth of ads per day.2. Led full-stack development on major initiatives including: integrating the Google DoubleClick API, developing a device fingerprinting method of attribution, and extending our Facebook API integration to attribute installs at the ad and ad-set levels of granularity.3. Delivered the above initiatives on schedule to secure almost a million dollars' worth of new annually recurring revenue.4. Learned, taught, and applied advanced functional programming concepts (e.g. functors, monads, and applicatives) in Scala.

Dev Bootcamp is a nine-week developer training program, where I spent 80-100 hours a week learning Ruby, Sinatra, SQL, Javascript, and Ruby on Rails. The school's philosophy emphasized 'learning by doing', pair programming, object-oriented design, and proper testing. In my final week, I led a team of four to take my idea for a rails app (tryinkwell.com) from conception to live demonstration for an audience that included representative from Heroku, New Relic, and other Bay Area companies.I'm currently staying on for an extra three weeks as a Teacher's Assistant, where I will be reinforcing and supplementing my knowledge. Half the time will be spent teaching and the other half will be spent exploring advanced topics like Node.js and Backbone.js.
