• Integrated with 576th FLTS to provide advice and support for pre-launch procedureso Performed hands-on tests to verify missile (Minuteman III) launch readinesso Observed field challenges and worked with mentor to address Umbilical Clamp misalignment caused by Base Adapter Ring shifts during transporto Oversaw tests for facility interconnectivity, hardware conformance, and replacement of field components with test launch specific parts• Developed software to aide in telemetry analysis and post flight data collectiono Replaced outdated application for derivations of thrust, drag, etc. My most exciting project with BAE was the solo designing and implementation of an application to take in various telemetry variables from flight and derive thrust data from them. The project was done mostly in Excel's VBA so that it was easy to transport between people and learn to use. It derived total booster thrust output over the course of use for the 3 stage solid rockets. One of the things it output was a graph for each stage showing change in thrust during the stage's life which was used to verify correct flight behavior. It was the start of a set of apps planned to analyze post-flight data, something previously not done by the branch of BAE I was with. This was especially cool because I performed receipt inspection on the pressure transducers that were used in flight to give me the data for my app. I got to touch something that went to space!

• Built Python scripts to analyze and process large data sets, taught class on learning Pythono Responsible for vibrational analysis of Lift Seal Bearing Systemo Solely responsible for script to sort 8gb of pure text output files from LS-DYNA, est. $7,000 annual saving (computing + worker time) • Performed structural and design evaluations using non-linear analysis in ANSYS, NX o HPT Minidisk ($30,000 project, 8lb savings) – Structural analysis in ANSYS, dealt with complications that arose from 2D-3D Hybrid Models, designed and implemented new lifing procedure valid for special case geometry o External Mount System ($150,000 project, 2lb savings) - complete meshing of model done in NX with constraints, loading, and data collection done in ANSYS At QuEST, my largest project was been a solo designing, building, and implementing of a python script that takes in extremely large and variably formatted text results files and processes them. The script collects vibrational frequencies from various parts of an engine’s compressor, and formats it in different ways to be easily presented, such as in a Fourier Transform or PSD. I was solely responsible for this task and had to present and justify my final product to not only my program manager, but also the Pratt and Whitney Chief Engineers for this contract. My largest impact as an intern came from a project to do a complete analysis on a redesigned external Turbine Mini-disk. I was responsible for applying loads, constraints, thermals, etc. to perform analysis in ANSYS to check the structural capabilities of the new part. Then, I was to use an in-house tool to measure its life cycle limit. However, due to the complex geometry from the redesign, the standard method was invalid. I worked mostly on my own and partly with a mentor to create a new way of analyzing the part, which we successfully justified to the Pratt-side engineering chiefs. This process is now standard procedure for similar parts.
