Dear reader,Thank you for taking the time to read this. My interest in botany grew from my curiosity to know how things work. This interest became a passion during college and subsequent work around cultivation. I was first captivated by the natural sciences through observation and admiration as I frequented parks, reserves, etc. for work and recreation. Since going into the field of study, I've tried various professional outlets:• Habitat restoration, understanding the needs of endangered species on the SF Bay and conducting applied restoration research strategies• Permaculture landscaping, practicing sustainable landscaping strategies on a residential scale• Sustainable mini-farming, John Jeavon's GROWBIOINTENSIVE internship• "Victory gardening" aka production horticulture, techniques for high yield organic horticulture techniques and connecting local people with local food through marketTo wrap things up, those are my core experiences that have demanded hard skills and harnessed soft skills. I'm looking forward to connecting and exploring opportunities on my career path. ~Matt BertkenI do have a side job as a freelance drummer, if you would like to learn more check out the link below.
