About Matt B. Hartman

I am a seasoned communications and public affairs leader with a decade of experience spanning corporate, nonprofit, and public sectors. My passion lies in helping organizations, corporations, and thought leaders strategize, communicate, and execute to drive meaningful change. Growing up in foster care ignited my early career focused on systemic change in child welfare, aiding transitional-aged youth in overcoming barriers. Recognizing the challenges of limited access and visibility to creating tangible impact, I published my first widely-read op-ed in HuffPost and pivoted into communications. Over the years, I’ve held diverse roles, from in-house nonprofit to senior leadership at a global marketing agency, and now as the founder of my boutique impact and communications agency. My clients range from A-List celebrities and Fortune 500 corporations to nonprofit organizations and public sector agencies. Some highlights include: —Launching a first-of-its-kind, sustainable ocean initiative for Los Angeles County, Interceptor 007, securing top-tier, global coverage including CBS News, the Los Angeles Times, NPR, and CNET. — Driving a campaign that led to a 600% increase in website traffic and a 220% rise in email subscriptions for arts education at the onset of COVID-19. — Leading the development of the inaugural ESG and CSR communications strategy for a $19bn IBM spinoff. — Developing a celebrity's thought leadership platform and securing top speaking opportunities, such as the UN Social Good Summit and The Economist's Open Future Festival. I firmly believe in an inextricable link between effective communications and tangible impact. A deep understanding of audience dynamics and leveraging strategic communication to mobilize action anchors my work philosophy, whether crafting influential speeches for world stages like the UN General Assembly or designing advocacy campaigns for legislative impact.I graduated from UCLA, and my personal writing appears in publications such as Teen Vogue and HuffPost. I also regularly volunteer with local organizations and political campaigns, including leading the 2020 Biden campaign’s child welfare affinity group.Reach out to me at matt@socialgoodcommunications.com if I can help you increase your impact.
