As the Senior Learning and Development (Support) Global Lead at Shopify, I was responsible for driving the strategy behind company wide and contact centre specific learning and development initiatives. With a team of senior leaders reporting into me, I worked with high level stakeholders across the business to align on organizational goals, and I motivated leaders and teams to achieve them. I'm passionate about lifelong learning, organizational development, leadership development, project management, and learning experience design and pedagogy. I have deep expertise in team creation and scaling, budget, learning technologies, knowledge management strategies, corporate culture, and organizational development.

As an Instructor, I was responsible for developing and delivering company wide onboarding as well as team specific training. This role involved learning experience design, remote and in-person facilitation, and providing feedback and support to learners as they would navigate through the world class onboarding process at Shopify.

As an Support Advisor at Shopify, I helped emerging small businesses get off the ground and grow into successful companies. As a company, Shopify does this by creating great technology and by making it accessible to people. Our platform lets users easily and quickly create their own online store, without all the technical work involved in developing their own website, or the huge expense of having someone else build it. Merchants can use Shopify to manage all aspects of their shops: uploading products, customizing the design, accepting credit cards, and viewing their incoming orders and completed transactions.Shopify takes the hassle out of running an online store, so our merchants can focus on what they do best: building and selling their products - and as an Support Advisor, I helped them succeed by working with a team of highly dedicated individuals who share two things: a passion for problem-solving, and a commitment to excellence.

Primary research areas were twofold: 1) I look at Indigenous cultural production, particularly music and art, in the context of contemporary urban modernity. My work seeks to unpack and, at times, works to redress the anachronistic slot often filled by the urban Indigenous person, both in Canada & internationally, specifically by critiquing the essentializing & historisizing one-dimensional assessment of the contemporary Indigenous person-as-artist and person-as-self (this was the focus of my MA Thesis); (2) I look at movements of trans/post humanism and the intersection of the human body and non-human technology. My work looks specifically at the cyberpunk 'grinder' movement & the body projects undertaken within that movement, as well as broader themes of the incorporation of technology into the body. Research foci include the DIY implementation of subcutaneous RFID chips, as well as 3D printing in medicine & sensory augmentation (this is the focus of my secondary research/conference paper work, ongoing).

My responsibilities included leading weekly seminars of 50+ students, in which I guided students through lecture and assigned reading material, as well as conducted small group/alternative learning model exercises. In addition, student evaluation, both on a week-to-week basis as well as in the grading of all assigned work & examinations was required. In addition, I would meet one-on-one and in small groups with students while working with professors on pedagogical approaches and curriculum design.

As an RA I perform qualitative and quantitative research, web design/ maintenance/support, and grant proposal writing & editing.
