I am the technical expert in Energy for NCB, responsible for briefing standard changes to the business and providing technical leadership in this subject matter.I have specialist knowledge in the Overhead Contact System including IC requirements, BS EN 50318 simulation, BS EN 50317 dynamic testing and ISO 17025 testing and calibration laboratories.I am a specialist in the RIR / TSI / NTSN /NTR for Energy and Infrastructure, Safety in Railway Tunnels and Persons with Reduced Mobility.I represent NCB as an ApBo, DeBo and previously a NoBo.I oversee the development of staff including mentoring, competence assessment and requirements.I am a member on the RSSB Energy steering committee and for the NTSN ENE.I have successfully certified the following projects:- Midland Mainline Electrification – Bedford – Kettering – Corby, which forms part of Network Rails £1.5 billion Midland Mainline Improvement Programme.- East Coast Main Line Power Supply Upgrade Phase 1 & Doncaster/Potteric Carr Static Frequency Converter, which forms part of Network Rails £1.2 billion East Coast Upgrade.- The Northern Hub and North West Electrification Programme phase 3, 4 and 5, which forms part of a £1 billion project by Network Rail.- Edinburgh to Glasgow Electrification, which forms part of Network Rails £742 million Edinburgh Glasgow improvement programme.- Stirling – Dunblane – Alloa Electrification, which forms part of Network Rails £742 million Edinburgh Glasgow improvement programme.I am an Assessor/Signatory under CSM-REA. Safety Assessment Reports provided to the following projects:- Electrification projects listed above.- Modernising Management (Southern Region and North West & Central Region organisational change projects).- Merseyrail DC Power Supply Upgrade.I have independently assessed and certified PantoCat Overhead Contact System simulation tool and T-RIS DRSS against BS EN 50318.

I was responsible for undertaking the conformance assessment of new or modified rail infrastructure and associated equipment against mandatory standards.I acted as an independent assessor under CSM and RIR to enable projects to obtain ORR authorisation, as necessary. I prepared technical files and safety assessment reports for certification. I delivered technical files for projects such as North West Electrification Programme Phase 1 & Phase 2 new energy subsystem, Huyton and Roby Capacity (including Chat Moss) Phase 1 third line new Infrastructure subsystem and Series 2 ISV.

I was responsible for managing the engineering development of a number of overhead line schemes during both outline design and detailed design, including production of estimates, carrying out detailed surveys, production of design documentation and overseeing junior engineers.

I was responsible for managing a team of technical staff, whose main role was to provide daily technical support to the wider electrification and plant maintenance teams. I was responsible for the development and production of business proposals for maintenance led capital expenditure projects, including the management of contractors to ensure that they complied with the required standards and budget.

I was responsible for managing the technical element of a variety of renewals schemes within the infrastructure project team, predominantly acting as designated project engineer (DPE) and managing design and build contractors to ensure that they complied with the required standards and budget.Successful projects included:- Pumping station renewals- Tunnel ventilation refurbishment- Lifts / elevator renewal- 25kV substation renewal- Signal power supply renewals

I completed a two year structured engineering programme within Network Rail, gaining on the job experience within various departments around the industry including secondments with suppliers.Secondments included OLE design office at Balfour Beatty and OLE Construction team on the Lichfield Trent Valley 4 tracking project.

I completed an initial one year off-site work experience in practical engineering trades followed by three years on the job training within various departments. Upon completion of the apprenticeship I worked as a test engineer.
