In this role, I act as the scrum master, product owner, and project manager to facilitate, define, prioritize, and assist in the implementation and operation of complex software system. I bring my flare for writing "professional fiction" and developing processes to ensure we do the right thing at the right time to keep our customers/users happy.

In this role, I provide systems engineering leadership on the NASA Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS) project with the following responsibilities:+ Develop documentation guiding all aspects of the software/systems development life cycle+ Act as the primary technical contact for project stakeholders, customers, and internal team members.+ Provide technical guidance for the usage of, and transition to, an Amazon Web Service based architecture.+ Curate interface control documentation and coordinate on-boarding of new project partners.+ Perform proof-of-concept prototyping of new technologies.+ Lead internal and community technical reviews and working groups.+ Develop and review standard operating procedures for configuration management, backup/recovery/failover, and regular operations.+ Coordinate with system administration, testing, and operations teams regarding system and software execution and anomalies.+ Perform and support project management planning, tracking, and reporting activities.+ Present project materials at workshops and conferences.+ Maintain internal and open source software for core and ancillary software capabilities.Areas of unique technical expertise related to this role include:+ Raster imagery manipulation using GDAL tools+ Vector data archival/distribution+ OGC WMS/WMTS access API+ Linux-based Python/Bash development

In this capacity, I was responsible for the software development of a transit schedule adherence analyzer developed for the small transit companies. As a partner, I also participate in regular meetings wherein customer feedback is discussed and relevant business decision-making occurs. My accomplishments and activities in this role include the following items: + Developed software requirements and design documentation based off of customer-elicited requirements. + Develop, test, and maintain a Java-based GUI application. + Perform development task management and code reviews of submitted code. + Oversee configuration management and software change control to ensure scheduled releases are delivered on-time.

In this capacity, I provided systems engineering support to a core system component of the NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS). My activities in this role included the following items: + White paper development and presentation for future system features. + Technical proposal development and technical oversight during implementation. + Requirements and test plan development and execution. + Customer interfacing to discuss future development opportunities. + Outreach activities including poster development and presentations. + Agile development product lead, organizing team and customer priorities to plan, track, and report on development activities. + End-of-life application transition oversight for ~60k users.

In this capacity, I supported the NASA ECHO (earthdata.nasa.gov) project as the lead operations software and systems engineering. I regularly interacted with our NASA customers, project stakeholders, end users, and all internal project teams to ensure the successful 24x7 operation of the ECHO system. I also took on a software management role, bringing a unique operational perspective. Some of my highlighted accomplishments and activities in this role include the following items: + Acted as an agile product lead to plan, track, and report on development activities. + Performed technical and managerial oversight for development tasks including cost and schedule tracking and technical risk mitigation. + Participated and led Change Control Board reviews of requested enhancements and bug fixes. + Interacted directly with the customer regarding system performance, technical decisions, and project priorities. + Reported directly to project manager enabling high level program decision making and scheduling. + Reported weekly to the customer regarding project stakeholders, end user, and internal team activities. + Led weekly technical meetings to coordinate activities between stakeholders. + Maintained end-user documentation used for project stakeholders and end users. + Gathered statistical metrics regarding system operations to perform historical performance trend analysis. + Oversaw a three-person team responsible for 8x5 user support activities and 24x7 on-call system support. + Organized multiple workshops and where I was responsible for logistics coordination, content development, discussion leading, and presenting. + Developed, documented, and performed training on team policies, procedures, and relevant technical topics.In addition to my core technical responsibilities, I participated in the following management activities: + Participated in IDIQ task proposal activities. + Participated in hiring interviews for technical and management staff.

In this capacity, I supported the NASA EOSDIS Core System project, working on an integration test team responsible for testing activities on a major system release. My accomplishments and activities in this role include the following items: + Performed functional testing while collaborating with developers and providing feedback management. + Performed critical performance testing to overcome system issues which threatened to delay the release. + Developed and maintained software testing scripts to improve testing efficiency and reliability.
